Allergy Safe USA is a community resource for parents of children with milk (dairy) and egg allergies, and other food-allergy families. This page explains what we collect, how it's stored and used, and how to ask us to delete it. It works alongside our Legal Disclaimer & Terms of Use.

1. What we collect

  • Email addresses — when you submit a restaurant review, request the free dining guide, build an allergy card, suggest a resource, or contact us.
  • Allergy card data — the name, age, allergens, EpiPen status, and emergency contact (name and phone) you enter in the card builder.
  • Your submissions — restaurant reviews (including safety ratings, notes, and incident reports), grocery products, restaurant listings, and resource suggestions.
  • Usage data — page views and on-site events through Google Analytics, which uses cookies.

Some things stay only on your own device and are never sent to us: an allergy card photo you add, and saved filters or preferences (stored in your browser's local storage).

2. How it's processed and stored

Submissions are sent to and stored by Allergy Safe USA through a third-party processing service, Google Apps Script, and kept in Google Sheets (Google LLC). Other services that help run the site:

  • Google Analytics — site usage statistics.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — spam protection on some forms.
  • Google Maps / Places — restaurant search on review and listing forms.
  • Open Food Facts and USDA FoodData Central — product lookups you start from the grocery pages.

3. How we use it

  • Sending you a link to your allergy card, and the dining guide if you ask for it.
  • Safety incident alerts about restaurants you reviewed — only if you opt in.
  • Occasional community updates — only if you opt in.
  • Reviewing submissions (including incident reports, which are reviewed before they're published) and following up with you about them.
  • Internal analytics to understand how the site is used and improve it.

Reviews you submit are published on the site. We may share restaurant names and review highlights on our social media pages, but not your name or email address.

We never sell your data, and we never share it with third parties for their marketing.

4. Allergy card share links

Anyone with your card's share link can see the name, allergens, and emergency contact on the card. Your email address is never included in a card link. Share it only with people you trust.

5. How long we keep it, and deleting it

We keep your email address, card data, and submissions until you ask us to delete them, so your card link and review history keep working.

To unsubscribe, or to have your email address or allergy card data deleted, email [email protected] from the address you used and tell us what you'd like removed. We'll confirm when it's done. Deleting a card's data will stop its share link from working.

6. Children

Allergy Safe USA is directed at parents and other adults. Allergy cards are created by adults on behalf of children, and the information on a card is entered by that adult. The site is not intended for use by children, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, email [email protected] and we'll delete it.

7. Changes and contact

We'll post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above. Questions? Email [email protected].
